Terms & Conditions of Business

Effective Date: July 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to all quotations, estimates and electrical services provided by CJF Electrical Services ("we", "our" or "us") unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Quotations

All quotations are provided free of charge unless otherwise stated.

Quotations remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise specified.

A quotation is based on the information available at the time and may be subject to change if the scope of works changes or unforeseen issues are identified during the project.

Acceptance

Acceptance of our quotation, whether in writing, by email or by instructing us to commence work, constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

Scope of Works

Our quotation details the agreed scope of work.

Any additional work requested after acceptance of the quotation, or work required due to unforeseen circumstances, will be treated as a variation and may incur additional charges. Any variations will be discussed and agreed with the client before the work is carried out wherever reasonably practicable.

Access

The client is responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the property or site throughout the agreed working hours.

Where access is unavailable or significantly delayed, additional charges may apply.

Client Responsibilities

The client is responsible for ensuring that:

  • Any required permissions or approvals have been obtained.

  • The work area is reasonably clear and accessible.

  • Existing electrical installations are safe to work on, unless the agreed work involves investigating or rectifying faults.

Unforeseen Conditions

Electrical work may reveal hidden defects or issues that could not reasonably be identified during the quotation stage.

Where additional work is required, we will explain the findings, provide a revised quotation or estimate where appropriate, and seek approval before proceeding.

Programme & Delays

Estimated start dates and completion dates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed.

We shall not be liable for delays caused by:

  • Adverse weather

  • Material shortages

  • Delays by other contractors

  • Restricted site access

  • Changes requested by the client

  • Circumstances beyond our reasonable control

Payment Terms

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • Invoices are payable within 7 days of the invoice date.

  • Larger projects may require staged payments or a deposit before work commences.

  • Final certification may be withheld until payment has been received in full.

Late Payment

We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue invoices in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable, or statutory interest where permitted by law.

The client shall also be responsible for any reasonable costs incurred in recovering overdue payments.

Ownership of Materials

All materials supplied by CJF Electrical Services remain our property until payment has been received in full.

Risk in the materials passes to the client upon installation.

Client-Supplied Materials

Where the client supplies materials or equipment, CJF Electrical Services accepts no responsibility for their quality, suitability, compatibility or manufacturer warranty.

Additional labour resulting from defective or incompatible products may be chargeable.

Electrical Certification

Where applicable, we will issue the relevant certification upon completion of the works and following receipt of full payment.

This may include:

  • Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC)

  • Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate

  • Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)

Guarantees

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of practical completion, provided:

  • The installation has not been altered by others.

  • The installation has not been misused.

  • The defect is not due to fair wear and tear or accidental damage.

Manufacturer warranties remain subject to the individual manufacturer's terms.

Health & Safety

We reserve the right to suspend work where conditions are considered unsafe or where health and safety legislation is not being complied with.

Cancellation

If the client cancels work after acceptance, we reserve the right to charge for:

  • Work already completed

  • Materials purchased

  • Non-returnable goods

  • Reasonable administrative costs

Liability

We maintain appropriate public liability insurance.

Our liability shall be limited to the value of the works carried out, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

Nothing within these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability which cannot be excluded under English law.

Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations where caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our work, please notify us as soon as reasonably possible so that we can investigate and work towards a satisfactory resolution.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Parking & Access Charges

The client is responsible for ensuring suitable parking and access arrangements are available where required.

Where parking permits, parking fees, congestion charges or other access-related costs are required to complete the works, these costs may be charged to the client in addition to the agreed quotation unless otherwise stated.

We will endeavour to notify the client of any additional charges wherever reasonably practicable.

Waste Removal & Disposal

Unless specifically included within the quotation, the removal and disposal of waste materials, packaging, redundant equipment or existing electrical components is not included.

Where agreed, CJF Electrical Services can arrange disposal of waste arising from the works, and any associated costs will be added to the final invoice.

Any existing electrical equipment removed during the works will be disposed of responsibly unless the client requests otherwise prior to removal.

Working Hours & Out-of-Hours Work

Our standard working hours will be agreed with the client prior to commencement of works.

Where work is requested outside normal working hours, including evenings, weekends or public holidays, additional charges may apply.

Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed with the client before the additional works commence wherever reasonably practicable.

Emergency Call-Outs

Emergency call-outs are charged separately from standard electrical works.

Emergency attendance may be subject to a call-out charge, minimum labour charge and additional rates for work carried out outside normal working hours.

Where immediate remedial work is required, we will advise the client of the likely costs before proceeding wherever reasonably practicable.

Emergency call-outs are intended to make electrical systems safe and address urgent issues. Further remedial works may require a separate quotation.

Photographs & Project Records

CJF Electrical Services may take photographs of completed works for quality control, certification records, project documentation and business promotional purposes.

Photographs will only be used in a way that does not identify private properties, clients or confidential project details without appropriate permission.

Where required, we will obtain client consent before using project photographs for marketing purposes, including our website, social media or promotional materials.
